Hi friends!
March 31 is the yearly Transgender Day of Visibility, and if you’ve followed me for very long at all, you know that I’m trans/agender and that my work is made from that lens. Specifically, I always focus on including and celebrating trans people and characters!
The Trans Day of Visibility was created to be a complement to the Trans Day of Remembrance in the fall, which honors trans people who are no longer with us. TDOV is thus about recognizing and celebrating transness while we’re still here. I came out in 2008 when I was 18 and it’s been quite a journey since, both personally and politically. Since then some things have improved, like overall recognition and acceptance, but other things have worsened (see: current US politics). The only way to get through this is together.
In celebration of TDOV, I’ve got two things for you: a special discount for the Numinous Tarot and a book bundle. Both will last from March 28 to March 31st. The former you can find in the usual place and you can learn more about the latter below.
Fellow author Al Hess put together a MASSIVE bundle of SFF books with trans/nonbinary characters and/or by trans/nonbinary authors on itch.io. You may be familiar with itch.io as a site for indie video games, but many authors also use it to get their books directly to readers. You just download the files and upload them to your ereader. This bundle contains 38 books—that’s basically an entire LIBRARY of trans literature! Storytelling is a hugely important part of our culture and the culture of understanding and acceptance—including of ourselves, if you’re trans, too.
I’ve got The Thread That Binds in there, and I’ve read some of the other offerings like Awakenings, A Lake of Feathers and Moonbeams, Mazarin Blues, and Odder Still, which are all very good. Check it out 💙🤍🩷🏳️⚧️
Hope you all are hanging in there in these trying times.
